Only recent flagship Android phones can Quick Share to an iPhone
The failure is silent, which is what sends people hunting through menus. Here is everything that is actually going on, so you can stop looking.
- Quick Share is Google and Samsung's nearby sharing for Android devices, and Apple has never shipped it on the iPhone. It began as Nearby Share on Google's side and as a separate Quick Share on Samsung's, and in 2024 the two were merged under the Quick Share name. Nothing in that merge added an Apple device.
- An iPhone appears in the Quick Share list only on a supported flagship, however close the two phones are sitting. Everywhere else the list only shows devices running the Quick Share software, which means other Android phones, Chromebooks and Windows PCs with the Quick Share app for Windows installed. Turning Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on does not add an iPhone to it.
- No hidden Android setting, developer option or region trick adds an iPhone to the Quick Share list on a phone that does not already support it. People look for one because the phone shows an empty list rather than an error message, so it reads like something is turned off. There is nothing to find.
- Play Store apps with Quick Share in the name do not extend Google's Quick Share to an iPhone. They are separate sharing tools with their own protocols. Some are genuinely good, and they get a section of their own further down, but none of them plugs into the Quick Share list you already have.

Camera to Clipboard sends Android photos to a computer, not a phone
This whole page assumes the iPhone is where the picture has to end up. Often it is not. People send a photo to their own iPhone so they can mail it from a laptop, or drop it into a document, or put it in a chat on a desktop. If that is the shape of your problem, the iPhone was a detour and there is a direct answer.

Apple has never opened AirDrop, so Google had to bridge it alone
This is worth understanding rather than just accepting, because the reason tells you whether a fix is coming to your phone or whether to pick a different method today. It is a boundary the two companies drew, not a wall physics put there.
- Quick Share and AirDrop grew up as two separate systems, and for most of their lives neither Google nor Apple built support for the other one. Both do roughly the same job, spotting a nearby device over Bluetooth and then moving the file across a direct Wi-Fi link, but for years they spoke different languages and could not hear each other.
- A third-party app cannot add Quick Share to an iPhone, because iOS does not give outside developers the access that would take. An app on an iPhone cannot register itself as a nearby device inside the system share sheet, and cannot sit in the background waiting to catch an incoming file while the phone is locked. Only Apple's own software gets to do that, which is why the one company that did break the deadlock did it from the Android side instead.
- Nothing about sending an Android photo to an iPhone is technically hard, which is what made the missing Quick Share support a business decision rather than an engineering one. The two phones are already on the same Wi-Fi and already carry the right radios. The cross-platform apps below prove the point, because they perform exactly this transfer using a protocol of their own.
- Apple's own Move to iOS app copies an Android camera roll onto an iPhone, but only while a brand-new iPhone is being set up. Once you have tapped through the setup assistant it is no longer offered, so it is a one-time migration tool rather than a way to send this afternoon's photo.
- Google connected Quick Share to AirDrop in November 2025, and Apple took no part in it. That is the one crack in everything above, and the next section is about how far it has spread since.
Quick Share reaches AirDrop from Pixel, Galaxy and a few others
There is one exception to the rule that Quick Share cannot reach an iPhone. It arrived in late 2025 on a single phone and has spread steadily since, so whether it applies to you comes down to which handset is in your pocket.
- Google connected Quick Share to AirDrop on 20 November 2025, starting with the Pixel 10. Google's own announcement, Android Quick Share can now work with iOS's AirDrop, describes it as Android and iPhone users being able to share files, starting with the Pixel 10 family.
- Apple took no part in connecting Quick Share to AirDrop and has announced nothing about it. Google built the compatibility on its own side and published it on its own, which is unusual, and it is why the feature turned up on Google's phones rather than across Android at once.
- Every Pixel from the 8a onwards, and every Galaxy from the S24 onwards, can now do it. That covers the Pixel 9 and 10 families including the a models and the folds, the Galaxy S24, S25 and S26 families, the Z Fold 6 and 7, the Z Flip 6 and 7 and the Z TriFold.
- OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and HONOR each have exactly one supported line. The OnePlus 15, the Xiaomi 17T Pro, the OPPO Find X9 series and Find N6, the vivo X300 series and the HONOR Magic V6 were all added in June 2026. A Motorola, a Nothing or any older phone still cannot do it.

A messaging app sends an Android photo to an iPhone but shrinks it
This is what almost everyone reaches for first, and for a quick snap it is the right call. The cost is invisible at the moment you send, which is why it deserves spelling out.
- Sending a photo from Android to an iPhone through WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram re-encodes it to a fraction of its original size. Chat apps re-compress pictures so they move fast on a mobile connection. A 4 MB camera photo commonly arrives on the iPhone as a few hundred kilobytes.
- A photo that a chat app recompressed on its way to an iPhone cannot be restored to full quality afterwards. The detail is not hidden inside the file, it was thrown away during the re-encode. Editing or upscaling the picture on the iPhone will not bring it back.
- The HD option in WhatsApp reduces the quality loss on a photo sent to an iPhone but does not switch the compression off. It raises the ceiling on the re-encode, so the picture arrives noticeably better and still smaller than the original.
- Attaching the picture as a document rather than as a photo is what stops a chat app shrinking it on the way to an iPhone. WhatsApp and Telegram both offer this. The file crosses untouched, and the person on the iPhone saves it out of the conversation instead of seeing it inline.
- A chat app is the right tool for one Android photo going to an iPhone that only has to be looked at. Three taps, both people already have the app, and the loss does not matter on a phone screen. It is the wrong tool when the photo will be printed, edited or kept.
A shared cloud link keeps full quality from Android to an iPhone
Uploading somewhere and sending a link is the method most people settle on once a chat app has let them down. It is a round trip through a server rather than a direct hop, and that shapes both what it is good at and where it drags.
- A photo shared from Android through Google Drive or Dropbox reaches an iPhone at its original size, with nothing re-encoded. Both services store the file exactly as it was uploaded, so what the iPhone downloads is byte for byte what the Android camera wrote.
- Google Photos only hands an iPhone the original file if the Android phone is backing up in Original quality. The Storage saver setting re-compresses every picture as it uploads, so the photo is already reduced before the iPhone ever sees it. Check the backup quality on the Android phone before you rely on this.
- A cloud link makes the Android photo travel up to a server and back down to the iPhone, so it is slower than any direct transfer. The upload has to finish before the link works at all, and on a weak mobile signal that upload is the entire wait. Both phones need a working internet connection.
- Sharing a cloud link from Android needs an account on the sending phone, but usually not on the iPhone. A Google Drive or Dropbox link set to anyone with the link opens straight in the iPhone's browser with no sign-in, which matters when the iPhone belongs to someone else.
- A cloud link carries a hundred Android photos to an iPhone as easily as it carries one. Put them in a folder and share the folder instead of each file, and the person on the iPhone picks through them rather than receiving a hundred separate messages.
- The free storage on a Google account is shared between Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, so a big batch of Android photos can run it out. Dropbox's free plan starts far smaller again. Neither limit matters for a dozen pictures and both matter for a holiday's worth.
A cross-platform app sends Android photos to an iPhone over Wi-Fi
On an Android phone that is not one of the supported flagships, these are the closest thing to Quick Share that actually crosses the divide, because they sidestep both companies' systems entirely and build their own link between the two phones.
- LocalSend and Send Anywhere each publish an Android app and an iPhone app, which is what lets them do the transfer Quick Share cannot manage from an ordinary Android phone. With the app on both phones, one picks the photo and the other accepts it. Neither company needs Apple's or Google's blessing, because the two copies of the app only have to understand each other.
- LocalSend moves the picture straight between the Android phone and the iPhone across the Wi-Fi they are both on, with no server in the middle. It is open source, it asks for no account, and it keeps working on a network that has no internet connection at all.
- Send Anywhere reaches an iPhone that is nowhere near the Android phone, because it uploads to a relay server first. You get a six-digit key or a link and the iPhone downloads from there. That reach is the trade: your photo sits on somebody else's server for the length of the transfer.
- A cross-platform sharing app gives the iPhone the original file, at the size the Android camera saved it. Nothing is recompressed anywhere along the way, which is the main reason to install one instead of using a chat app.
- Both phones need the app open and on the same network before a direct Android to iPhone transfer will start. iOS will not let a third-party app wait in the background for a file the way Quick Share does on Android, so the receiving iPhone has to be awake with the app on screen.
- Getting an Android photo to an iPhone through a cross-platform app is more setup than Quick Share, because the iPhone has to install something first. On your own two devices that is a one-off. On somebody else's iPhone it is a conversation before it is a transfer, which is why a link often wins for a one-time send.
Email carries a few Android photos to an iPhone at full size
Email is the unglamorous option and it is still the one that needs the least from the person on the other end. It has a hard ceiling, though, and it is lower than most people expect.
- Emailing photos from an Android phone to an iPhone needs no extra app on either phone and no setup at all. The attachment lands in the iPhone's Mail app, where a long press saves the picture into the camera roll. Nobody has to install or join anything.
- Gmail refuses an attachment over 25 MB, which is only a handful of photos from a modern Android camera. A 12 megapixel shot is often 3 to 5 MB, so five or six of them fill the allowance. Past that Gmail offers to send a Google Drive link instead, which is the cloud method wearing a different button.
- Some mail apps offer to shrink an attached photo before sending it, and picking the original size is what protects the quality on the iPhone. The wording and the default vary from app to app, so read the prompt rather than tapping straight through it.
- An emailed photo leaves a lasting copy in the sent folder on the Android phone and in the inbox on the iPhone. That is fine for a holiday snap and worth a thought for a passport page or a bank statement.
- Email gets slow and awkward past about five Android photos going to an iPhone. Each attachment has to be saved to the camera roll one at a time from inside the Mail app, so a cloud link is less work for both people once the count climbs.
A cable from Android to an iPhone means a USB stick in between
It would be reasonable to expect two phones with the same port to talk to each other, and they do not. There is still a physical method here, but it goes through a third piece of hardware.
- Plugging an Android phone into an iPhone with a USB-C cable does not let either phone read the other's photos. Neither one will present itself as a storage drive to the other, so the connection carries power and nothing you can use.
- Copying Android photos onto a USB-C flash drive and plugging that into the iPhone does work, on an iPhone that has a USB-C port. The Files app on the iPhone reads the drive and you save the pictures into the camera roll from there. iPhone 15 and later have USB-C, and earlier models with a Lightning port need an adapter.
- A USB stick shared between an Android phone and an iPhone has to be formatted so that both phones can read it. exFAT is the safe choice, and FAT32 works too if the files are small. A drive formatted for a Windows PC only, or for a Mac only, will be refused by one end or the other.
- A USB drive is the only method on this page that moves Android photos to an iPhone with no network of any kind. No Wi-Fi, no mobile data, no account and no sign-in. That matters on a plane or somewhere with no signal, and almost nowhere else.
- Buying a drive just to move a few pictures from Android to an iPhone costs more time and money than any other way of doing it. Unless the stick is already sitting in a drawer, a USB transfer is the answer of last resort rather than a plan.
