Most guides show you how to copy photos into a folder. But often you don't want a file, you want to paste the photo, into an email, a chat, a document or an image editor. Here is how to put an iPhone photo straight onto your computer's clipboard, plus the one built-in option Apple offers.
The quick answer: Normal methods (cable, iCloud, email) give you a file you then open and copy. The big catch: Universal Clipboard only works between Apple devices, so there is no way to use it with a Windows PC. It also needs both devices signed into the same Apple ID and physically close.
Universal Clipboard often just fails
Even on two Apple devices set up correctly, Universal Clipboard is notoriously unreliable and frequently stops working with no explanation, no error, and no obvious fix. It is one of the most common complaints against the feature.
